The Journey Begins Where the Trail Ends – image of a Midwest winter

Midwest winters can be particularly harsh and brutal, but they can also bring about spectacular images.

Hormel Park, near Fremont, Neb., offers a trail system near the Platte River that is well traveled. What is not, is the is the view in this painting. Just after sunrise on a -13F morning after a midwest winter snow, the sun came peeking through the branches, drawing me into the possibilities beyond. Several layers emerged drawing me farther into the distance and begging me to explore further.

Due to the temperatures, and the fact I had already been out for an hour and could barely operate the camera, led me back to the house and a cup of coffee, but this painting brings about the endless possibilities and beauty of the midwest winter landscape.

Prints available upon request.
